What can’t you trust Zillow to provide an accurate value for your home?
For one thing, we’re in Texas, which is a non-disclosure state. This means a consumer website can’t publish the value of your neighbor’s home or what they may have sold it for. That information can only come through the MLS.
Secondly, Zillow pulls data from public tax records and other similar sources to estimate the value of homes. Their estimate tool, the Zestimate, is merely an algorithm that calculates this public online information and is typically 5% to 15% higher or lower than the home’s actual value.
